SC Morris
Adventure Coordinator
SC (they, them, theirs) was born and raised in the southeast. Living in Memphis, TN until age 11 then moving closer to family in Central Alabama. Their love for the outdoors grew from their close relationship with their grandparents and the farm that they would spend most summers at. From romping through creeks, to fishing at the pond on the property, there was always something to explore and do. Seeking a new adventure, they went off to Appalachian State University in Western North Carolina where they obtained a degree in Communications. During their time in Western North Carolina they worked a multitude of jobs in the recreation and outdoor industries such as ropes course facilitation, working at ski mountains, and running trip programs for summer camps. Once SC finished their degree, they became motivated by their want to help and support others in crisis and saw the therapeutic virtue that the wilderness provides. They became a guide at SUWS of the Carolinas, as well as becoming the ropes course facilitator for the program.
After working at SUWS for around two years, SC took a break from the therapeutic field to follow their childhood dream of thru hiking the Appalachian Trail. They attempted and completed their thru hike in 2022. When hiking through the state of Vermont on their adventure they fell in love with the Green Mountain State and felt the call to go back to guiding. Having spent time as a guide at True North, SC felt a spark to help students engage with nature and outdoor adventure activities in a new focus as the Adventure Coordinator.
When SC is not working they can be found biking around the Burlington area, hiking in the mountains, baking, or enjoying the sunshine and a good book somewhere outside.
