Berette McNaught, BS, EMT
Medical Coordinator
Berette McNaught (she/her/hers) grew up in Minnetonka, Minnesota. Having family connections in the west, Berette visited often and fell in love with the mountains. She moved to Montana for college, where she earned her Bachelor’s of Science in Psychology at Montana State University. Her passion for the outdoors exploded- she sought ski adventures, climbing trips, hiking trails, and camping in the Bozeman area and greater big sky region.
Berette loves to see new places and explore opportunities. Her thirst for exploration led her around the world, from guiding in Yellowstone National Park and Park City, Utah, to working on a permaculture farm in Southeast Asia. She learned to telemark skiing in Norway and taught English to Sub-Saharan migrants in Morocco. Music became a focus, and Berette found herself recording two albums, and sold out venues across the country as a singer in a folk band called Wind and the Willows.
Berette strongly believes in the therapeutic power of nature and having experienced it personally, she wanted to be a catalyst for young people to find self empowerment in the outdoors. She spent two years mentoring teenagers through adventure activities such as skiing, climbing, hiking, and rafting in Montana before she moved to Vermont to guide at True North. Berette is a certified Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), Wilderness First Responder (WFR), and has first hand experience handling medications and providing medical care in the wilderness. She draws on organization skills and communication in her collaboration with the Medical Director, and particularly with her responsibility to coordinate program-wide medical care, including management and dispensation of medications, and overseeing safety and wellness for all students.
