Alison McHugh, BA
Research and Alumni Coordinator
Alison (she/her/hers) holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education and a minor in music from Vermont College / Union Institute and University. After college she joined the faculty at a small private school where she taught music and math. In 2009 she helped to start a restaurant in Waterbury, Vermont where she spent four years serving the local community, training volunteers and directing paid staff. The restaurant’s mission was to raise funds for relief work overseas through a non-profit which provides healthy meals and education for orphan children in Kenya and other countries.
Alison spent 4 years working in the office at True North before transitioning into her current role of Research and Alumni Coordinator. She has always had a tremendous respect for outdoor education and is fascinated by the way nature provides an environment for realizing the truth about the human spirit.
She oversees True North’s participation in national research about the efficacy of Wilderness Therapy, and facilitates ongoing connection with our alumni and their families.
Alison is a native Vermonter and lives in Waterbury with her husband and two children. She is active in her faith and is also a singer songwriter.
