Neil Binette, LMFT
Neil Binette is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. Born in southern Maine, he now lives in the seacoast area of New Hampshire. Neil received his Bachelor of Science degree in Family Studies from the University of New Hampshire, went on to earn a Master’s degree in Counseling from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary, and is currently pursuing a Doctorate in Marriage and Family Therapy from Antioch University New England.
His training in Emotionally Focused Family Therapy, the Gottman Method and Positive Youth Development complement his holistic, collaborative, and strengths-based approach. Neil especially enjoys working with clients who struggle with anxiety, depression, a history of trauma, issues related to adoption and family conflict. Prior to True North, Neil was a therapist at a top therapeutic boarding school for 8 years, director of social services at a local adoption agency, and a licensed clinician in private practice. Neil has a background in pastoral counseling and enjoys working with clients of all faiths. He loves to volunteer in his community, offering his services at a sober living residence, pregnancy help center, as an advisor to the board of directors at a local soup kitchen, and a youth leader at his church.
Neil is married with two step-children and an adopted son from Ethiopia. He enjoys surfing, hiking, and traveling. He has competed in 5 marathons, 5 half-marathons, 3 triathlons and numerous 5k and 10k road races. He has a third-degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do and has coached swimming for over 20 years. His time spent with orphans in Ethiopia has been the most meaningful experience.
