Alan Zaur, MD
Alan Zaur received his bachelor’s degree from Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut. He attended graduate school at the University of Pennsylvania and completed medical school at Hahnemann Medical College of Drexel University in Philadelphia. After medical school he completed his internship and residency at Pennsylvania Hospital, a major teaching affiliate of the University of Pennsylvania. During his residency he worked extensively with the adolescent and young adult programs at the Institute of Pennsylvania Hospital. After residency, Dr. Zaur graduated from the Institute of the Philadelphia Association for Psychoanalysis.
For ten years, Dr. Zaur held a faculty appointment at the University of Pennsylvania Medical School. He taught medical students and psychiatric residents at Pennsylvania Hospital. He is board certified in Psychiatry and Neurology.
Dr. Zaur has treated adolescents and adults in his outpatient practice since 1979. He moved with his wife and two sons to Vermont in 1989. In addition to clinical practice with adolescents and adults, Dr. Zaur has supervised pre- and post-doctoral students in Montpelier and Burlington Vermont.
Dr. Zaur has climbed all of the mountains above 4000 feet in New York State, and he is a member of the Adirondack Forty-Sixers. He is also an active member of the Radio Amateur Civil Emergency Service and he is an officer of the Central Vermont Amateur Radio Club.
