True North is actively hiring for Guide positions. Are you motivated and energized? Do you have a desire to mentor youth and young adults? Minimal outdoor experience necessary. We are looking for individuals who are empathic and caring, and natural leaders and strong communicators. The Guide role is perfect for someone who is eager to learn and enhance their therapeutic skill set. Guides are a full-time, year-round position. Guides work an 3 1/2 day on / 3 1/2  day off schedule. See below for more information.

Office and Medication Administrator

True North is actively hiring for an Office and Medication Administrator who can assist in day-to-day office administrative tasks, organize and pack student medications, and effectively communicate and collaborate with parents, doctors, and various True North departments. Program Manager

True North is seeking a Program Manager to help facilitate daily programming for the students, coordinate and execute schedules, supervise and train guides (line staff), and support the therapeutic goals for students. True North Guides

The Role:

The Guide is essential to the outdoor therapeutic model, and plays a pivotal role in the life-changing experience for students at True North.  Guides work in teams of two to provide 24-hour supervision for a group of up to 7 students, ages 14-17 or 18-25.  Guides run the day to day – they facilitate team building activities, lead adventures, teach outdoor and other life skills, and help students achieve treatment goals.  Integral to the treatment team, Guides work closely with Therapists and Program Managers to develop treatment plans and support students in their therapeutic journey.

Daily Activities:

A variety of activities abound at True North.  Guides need not be proficient in all of these things- just have a willingness to learn and engage the students in challenging themselves appropriately.   

  • Adventure: hiking, backpacking, canoeing, kayaking, paddle-boarding cross country skiing, snowshoeing, and rock climbing.
  • Outdoor living skills: camping, fire-building, outdoor cooking, and map and compass navigation
  • Additional activities: games, art, yoga, cooking classes, disc golf, field and community service projects, and winter movie nights
Experience and Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 21 years of age
  • A four-year college degree is preferred
  • Comfortable in outdoor setting and be physically capable of backpacking with a 50-pound pack over rugged terrain during summer months
  • Guides must pass a physical exam, pre-employment urine drug test, state and federal background checks
Compensation:
  • Inquire to learn more about average pay
  • Benefits include; health insurance, SIMPLE IRA, opportunity to earn up to $450/year towards qualified health and wellness activities, and the opportunity to earn up to $600/year of student loan payment reimbursement.
  • $500 signing bonus payable after completion of the first four shifts

Office and Medication Administrator

Responsibilities Include:
  • An 8-4 in-person schedule, Monday through Friday
  • Communication with parents, doctors, and pharmacies for each student at True North to ensure that medications are received onsite in a timely manner, that prescriptions are up-to-date
  • Organization and packing of medications for proper administration in the field
  • Collaboration with True North Admissions team, Clinicians, Office Staff, and Field Department to ensure that medications are properly administered and tracked in the field
  • Administrative duties such as answering the phone, managing correspondence, scheduling appointments, drafting insurance write-ups, and participation in student enrollments and graduations.
  • Documentation of medication dispensation and organization of files 
Experience and Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 21 years of age
  • A four-year college degree is required.  A degree or certification in a medical field is preferred but not required.
  • Ability to work as a positive team member through ongoing collaboration with True North staff as well as families and outside professionals
  • A warm, friendly personality and ability to help visitors and families feel comfortable upon arrival at the program.
  • Superior organization skills
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment urine drug test, state and federal background checks

Program Manager


Responsibilities Include:
  • Coordinate, plan, and execute weekly program activities based on expertise and training
  • Coordinate, plan, and facilitate the weekly schedule for the program, including collaboration with staff from all other departments
  • Collaborate with other staff to ensure smooth facilitation of meals, showers, and other shared spaces/activities
  • Support and manage guides while on shift and provide additional training as needed
  • Facilitate and support additional needs such as enrollments, graduations, doctor’s appointments, etc.
Experience & Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree 
  • Competency and leadership skills in adventure or other activities 
  • A clean and valid driver’s license is required.
  • Must be able to pass a physical exam, pre-employment urine drug test, state and federal background checks
  • Prior experience in wilderness or residential treatment programs
